Not that this day is a huge deal in my life. I know the day signifies a major milestone for our country but aside from the hubby getting a day off from work and the excitment of fireworks I don't often ponder the meaning of Independence Day like I would Thanksgiving or Christmas or Easter.
This day does bring back memories though. Two years ago I was quite preggers. My due date was still over a week away but with concern over my high blood pressure and trips to the OB every few days I got the impression I'd be in the hospital with a baby before my "official" due date. I was put on bedrest near the end of June and was not able to go to the Rockeis fireworks game with Andy on the 3rd. He went and met some friends there. Unfortunately he did not get to enjoy the and of the game or the fireworks after. I was laying on the couch watching TV and began to see stars. A scary thing that could indicate preeclampsia. So after calling Andy he rushed home to take me down to the hospital. Thankfully everything checked out fine and they sent me home.
After yet another trip to the OB, I was scheduled for an induction. So we went in the Saturday after the 4th that year and Stephan came a little over 24 hours later. When it gets to be this time of year, that is probably the memory that I will most likely think about. The day the perfect little boy came into my life. And to think I so wanted him to be a girl ... maybe next time.
]]>My day did not turn out as I'd hoped.
First off, my friend's daughter got sick with some sort of fever involved and our fun brunch and other potential excitement was then canned, hopefully to be revisited at a later Thursday.
I was tired this morning so after her call I set my alarm a bit later and after a couple snoozes the thing shut off and I slept in a bit later than I'd wanted to. Sure was a nice treat to have a seriously LAZY morning though!
After I got up I eventually chatted with Andy and decided to head to the store and get grocery shopping done so we wouldn't have to deal with that on the weekend. I can't believe how fast money disappears though! I did however find a great pair of workout pants that are long and super comfy. And bought diapers. Every thing adds up, and FAST! At least now we have some fresh fruit and hopefully enough meals to make us through the next couple weeks. We'll see.
Once I got back from two stores and got everything all put away I actually did a few chores. Put away some wash and got a batch started to get my new yoga pants washed up for tomorrow. Sewed a button on one of Andy's shirts. You know, super fun stuff :)
Now I'm on to catching up with Design Star. I missed the first episode of the season but was able to catch up with the second and third episodes and will continue watching the season though it seems a bit lame. I really like Kim Myles and her new show Miles of Style. Always interesting to see what they do with the challenges and how they interact with each other as well.
Next up: on to dinner at our favorite little Mexican restaurant. Hooray for free beer/margarita Thursday and friends visiting from IL.
Just in case you care ... I officially joined NaBloPoMo and am shooting for a post a day. We'll see how I do this month and come August, I'll officially try and post every day.

Aside from the fact that I don't have millions of dollars at my disposal to fly to New York or Paris and go shopping, I do get to do anything I want tomorrow! Stephan will be headed to Nana & Papa's and I get the day to myself. I'm hoping to do lunch with a friend and maybe go shopping. I've got something I need to exchange if I can find the reciept. I also need to try and find something else. Will try and make it to the gym as well, we'll see. I'm just happy to have the day to myself really, so I can do anything I want.

Crib recall. Stephan slept great the first night but has been having a hard time getting to sleep the past few nights. The worst is knowing we’ll go through this all over again when we finally get a new crib. I’m also annoyed that I haven’t gotten the packet to send the stuff back to the company. WTH are they waiting for?
My headache. Think It just might be time for a visit to the chiropractor.

When someone stops having the time to talk or get together with you. If you have a relationship you have to be available and willing to spend time with someone. I'm not talking 24/7 or anything, but when you haven't seen or talked to me in a couple months I start to wonder ....
Another thing: saying you want to get together and then not returning phone calls, texts or emails. Ever, not just once because you were busy. Course that's kind of related to the first one.
]]>So here's my solution to the recall problem. Toddler beds are freaking expensive so that's not gonna happen. It's why we bought a 4-in-1 crib!
So apparently our crib is a part of the Jardine recall.
This is super annoying to me.
My MIL mentioned the recall to me yesterday and I of course forgot to check his crib last night when we got home. Thankfully BRU/TRU sent an email with a link to their site about the recall and I was reminded to go check. While I can't remember the name of our crib I thought one of the names sounded familiar yesterday but could no longer access our BRU registry to confirm that. So the email today from BRU/TRU has our crib pictured and I checked and our model number is listed. So I put our info into the form on the Jardine site and looked at what we have to do to get the voucher and I'm thouroughly annoyed right now. What exactly am I supposed to do in the several weeks it will take to do all this crap? Where is he to sleep when he'll climb out of the PNP if we pull that out.
I'm contemplating seeing if nana and papa are willing to get a toddler bed and let us use it for a few weeks till all is sorted out and we have a new crib/toddler bed. They are still sleeping him in the PNP which won't work for much longer and they will have to do something different soon. Apparently using bed rails on a twin bed they already had was not very successful :)
We are supposed to immediately stop using the crib, but where to put it?
I guess he could sleep on his mattress on the floor for a few days.
I'm just totally annoyed.

First off, making faces. What you can't really tell from the picture is that he's wearing the swimsuit we bought for him last year. I'm amazed it still fits and glad we don't have to buy another one this summer!
On to playtime. Stephan discovers his baby once in a while and is quite sweet when he does. He will hold him and pat him and say "aww" like he does when he hugs us. This time he wanted to push baby around and decided to put baby on top of his fire truck. I showed him how to tuck baby inside which worked a bit better.
Oh how he adores Miz Graycie! While it may not appear this way in the picture, she is also fond of him, just not when he excitedly rushes over to pet her.
And then there is his obsession with electronics. (Wonder where he gets that from??) He really wants to mess with the camera so I let him take a few pictures ...
"Am I supposed to be sleeping?" Apparently when there are toys about not much falling asleep happens.
Though he does eventually fall asleep, sometimes with two Pops.
He misses Mrs. Sarah and Kayla during the summer and really enjoyed playing with her this morning. We try and get together a couple times a month for the kids to play and the bonus is that we can chat! This is him, mostly playing in the sandbox. I tried to get video of him climbing up the slide and going down but he didn't cooperate when I was trying to get evidence.
And lastly, I leave you with MANGO BOY. He has decided he seriously loves this fruit and ate an entire mango yesterday. Left NONE for his drooling mommie and daddie. Oh well, he ate something besides mac'n'cheese.
There's my boy. I can't believe he'll be two next month! Where does the time go??
