Who am I? What a huge question. There are the typical labels: Christian, wife, mother, friend, school pscyhologist. But I'd like to think that what matters most is that I love Jesus and while it's not always perfect, I try and life my life refelcting Him to others. That's a huge and daunting task but one I am willling to try, try again until I get it right. Living for Christ gives me purpose. I know what He wants me to do and seek to change the world inasmuch as He chooses to use me to do so.
I've been married for eight years, while not longer than my parents were married to each other, it's longer than they've both been married to spouse #2. Strange thing to think about so I don't very often. Divorce is not a word I'm willing to have in my vocabulary although marriage is tough work it's also rewarding and I plan on sticking to my relationship with Andy till we are old and gray, whatever it takes.
My son Stephan was born about two years ago and since then I've been learning what it means to be a mom. There are moments that make life fabulous and also those that bring about some of the most challenging situations I have ever had to deal with. Being a parent has made me grow up in ways I never expected and brought rewards and joys that are worth even the worst days.
When it comes to making friends I'm a bit shy (often interpreted as stuck-up or rude or whatever) until I'm comfortable enough to come out of my shell. I interact best with extroverts but married another introvert so anything is possible. Since it takes effort to grow and cultivate friendships right now I've only got a few close friends that I try to keep up with and spend time with. It's great to have those people who know you enough to see through your veneer (did I spell that right?) and then you can just be real with them. I hate pretending everything's fine when it's not and need people who will listen and encourage me when things are going great or I feel like total crap.
Last on my list, my job. I like being a school psych. I get the opportunity to work with kids and I always wanted to do that. I also get my summers off, a wonderful thing that will be great when Stephan starts school too. I work in the public school system in a urban setting which can provide a great deal of challenges, enough to keep my job interesting and me needing to learn more.
So enough about me, read my blog if you want to know more!
